Track, Boys: At the Mamaroneck Relays Kennedy Catholic Placed Fourth Overall
At the Mamaroneck Relays Kennedy Catholic placed fourth overall with 48 points. Kennedy picked up two relay wins in the long jump relay and the 3x400 intermediate hurdles relay. Jesse Aprile, Dylan Shuck, and Brett Lounsbury won the long jump relay with a two-man team total of 40-4-1/2. Jason Davin, Louis Fusco, and Schuck won the 400 intermediate hurdle relay with a two-man team time of 2:08.0.

Nine Kennedy Catholic Girls Medal; Cremin, Purdy, Asaro, & Kendzor Run the 7th Fastest SMR for NYS Class B Schools to Date / Capture Gold at the 38th Annual Croton Girls Relays
Jessica Kendzor ran a 2:18 800-meter anchor split against her friend, state qualifier, and roommate at states, senior Anne Fields, Irvington High School, to help the JFK relay team to a 1st place finish at the 38th Annual Croton Girls Relays. Newcomers to JFK’s relay, Tara Cremin ran the 1st leg (200 Meters) and Catherine Purdy ran the 2nd leg (200 Meters). Both ran PRs. JFK speedster Danielle Asaro sprinted 400 meters & placed the team within striking distance of winning the event. Jessica Kendzor sailed to the finish line. The girl’s 4 x 400 meters relay team consisting of Tara Cremin, Emily Thomas, Danielle Asaro, and Jessica Kendzor finished in 3rd place for bronze medals with a combined effort of 4:32.6. In the 4 x 100 meters relay, the JFK Catholic girls team (Cat Purdy, Shannon Spillane, Emily Thomas, and Jessica Kendzor) ran a combined 57.4 to medal and place 4th. Kerry Ford showed her versatility and team commitment by stepping in last minute to join Tara Cremin in the 400 hurdle relay. Tara ran 1:22 and Kerry ran 1:34 for a combined effort of 2:56.
In the field events, Danielle Asaro (14’ 7 ½”) and Stephanie Prestamo (12’ 1”) combined their distances (26-8.5) to take a 3rd place bronze medal in the long jump relay. Throwers Meghan Callaghan and Madison Evans had a good day. Together, they took a 1st place ribbon in the JV shot put relay, which equated to the 5th farthest throw in the varsity division. Meghan had her personal best with a throw of 23 feet. Madison threw 20 feet 11 inches. They also combined distances and were awarded medals for 5th place in the varsity discus relay. Meghan threw 64’10” and Madison threw 51’ 11” in the girls’ dual effort in the discus event. In the triple jump, Stephanie Prestamo jumped a PR triple jump 25’1&3/4” and Kerry Ford PR’d & jumped 22’11” in the triple jump for a combined effort over 48 feet.

North County News: Kennedy’s Aprile, Asaro, Mannion, Kastberg, Kendzor, & Prestamo Win Events
At the first ever Ossining Relays… Kennedy’s Jesse Aprile had the top individual long jump with a distance of 19-6. He also had the second best triple jump of the day at 39-11.
Also at Ossining, Kennedy Catholic won the 4 x 400 meter relay with a team of Danielle Asaro, Breeda Mannion, Catherine Kastberg, and Jessica Kendzor in a time of 1:54.57. The same foursome also won the sprint medley in a time of 4:28.88. Kennedy posted a third win in the long jump relay with Danielle Asaro (15-1 ½) and Stephanie Prestamo (12-10) posting a team distance of 27-11 ½.

KC Girls Track Team Topple North Salem & Haldane; KC Boys Beat Haldane, But Fall Victim to North Salem in Dual Meet Activity
Breeda Mannion ran 4 events. She won 1st place in the 3200 Meters & the 1500 Meters. She also ran legs in the 4x400 Meter Relay team and the 4x100 Meter Relay teams in their victories. Jessie Kendzor tied the JFK 200-Meter school record with a 26.67 performance at North Salem in this tri-meet held on Tuesday night. This is the 8th school record that Kendzor owns. She followed the 200 Meters with a victory in the 800 Meters. Jessie also anchored the 4 x 100 Meter relay team to a 1st place finish. Danielle Asaro was 1st in the 100 Meters. Danielle played an integral part of the victorious 4x100 Meters, and scored points in the jumps. Emily Thomas showed her versatility, scoring points as a sprinter and long distance runner. Coach Elliott dubbed Catherine Kastberg the team’s 400-meter competitor. She can expect to run and hurdle in events of that length. She won the 400 meters and was 2nd in the hurdle event. Catherine was a member of the victorious relay teams as well. Kerry Ford, Katie & Emily Mittlestadt and Kat Purdy added much needed depth in the jumping, running and hurdle events & scored points for the fighting Gaels. Madison Evans provided points in the shot put and discus field events for the team.
Aprile, Cecere, and Schuck led the Kennedy Catholic boys. Dylan Schuck jumped 5’8” in the high jump and threw the shot put over 35 feet. Both are PRs for the senior. Jesse Aprile jumped over 40 feet in the Triple Jump for the first time this season. He and Coach Bergmeier were delighted that he was over 40 feet at this time during the season. Schuck and Aprile won their respective events. Alex Cecere aced the 400 meters. He showed that he is capable of scoring in both distance and sprint races for the team. Matt Eliseo, John & Jason Davin, Louis Fusco, Zachary Cecere, and Brett Loungbury had excellent performances & ran and jumped to add points to the Gael’s total.

Gold Medalists - Kendzor, Asaro, Mannion, Kastberg, Prestamo, & Aprile Lead the JFK Gaels at the Ossining Invitational
1st Place Medalists - Kendzor, Asaro, Mannion, Kastberg, Prestamo and Aprile led the Gaels to a strong showing at the Inaugural Ossining Invitational Relays. Kennedy Catholic’s versatile Track and Field teams (runners, jumpers and throwers) scored a bundle of points throughout the day.
Kendzor ran a 26+, Asaro a 27+, and Kastberg and Mannion ran 30+ legs in the 4x200 Relay. The result was a 1st place in a field of 14 teams. Their time was 1:54.57, 2 seconds off the JFK Catholic school record. It was the 1st time the girls tried this event. The same 4 girls also won first place in the 9-team Sprint Medley field. Their time was an excellent 4:28.88. This was also the first time the girls tried this event as a team.
Aprile and Asaro had the best long jumps of the day for the boys and girls, respectively. Prestamo had the 4th best long jump for the girls. Together, Asaro and Prestamo won the Long Jump Relay Final. Prestamo (5th) and Ford (6th) placed 2nd in the Triple Jump Relay finals. Aprile and J. Davin placed 2nd as a Triple Jump team for the boys. Aprile and Loungbury placed 2nd as a team in the boys Long Jump. In the Varsity Boys High Jump Relay Final, JFK’s J. Davin and B. Loungbury combined to take second place. Davin had the third highest jump and Loungbury had the 5th highest jump.
In the Varsity Girls Discus Throw Relay finals, Callaghan and Evans combined throws to capture 3rd place. Callaghan had the 2nd farthest throw of the day. In the Varsity Girls Shot Put Relay Finals, the JFK team of Evans and Callaghan finished 4th.
JFK Catholic also placed 4th in the Varsity Girls 300 Meter Shuttle Hurdle Race.
