JFK Catholic Track Team Dedicates Championship Season to Marc




The JFK Catholic Track Team has dedicated the Winter Track Championship Season to Marc. A memorial shirt is to be constructed in Marc's honor bearing Marc's name. We love you, Marc, and will remember you always.

Roy Arnesen, NCN: Sailors, Gaels, and Tuskers Taste Victory

Kennedy Catholic captured the League 1-D Title at the 168th Street Armory on Sunday over Pawling, 171-150. Jesse Aprile led the way, winning the 55-meter dash (6.8), the long jump at 19-7 ½ and the triple jump at 41-5. Michael Campobasso won the pole vault (10 feet) and the high jump at 5-6. Campobasso also placed second in the 55-meter hurdles (8.9) behind teammate Dylan Schuck, who won with a time of 8.3. Schuck also placed second in the long jump (19-1/4) and high jump (5-2). Andrew Rodriguez won the shot put with a distance of 33-1 ½. Liam Perry took second in the triple jump at 38-7 ¼ and third in the long jump at 17-7.

Roy Arnesen, NCN: Asaro Wins Three Events to Lead Kennedy

Kennedy Catholic’s Danielle Asaro won the 55-meter dash (7.4) and the 300 (43.60). She also teamed with Katherine Kastberg, Breeda Mannion, and Jessica Kendzor to win the 4x400 relay (4:22.9). Kendzor also won the 1000 (3.07.7) and took third in the 3000 (11.23.1). Kathryn Ahearn won the long jump (11-7 ¾) and took second in the triple jump (24-6 ½). Mannion placed fourth in the 1,500 (5:27.2). Kennedy placed second as a team behind Pawling.

Jessica Kendzor and Breeda Mannion Aptly Represent JFK Catholic at the Yale Classic

Sister Janet entered her top senior runners in the Yale Classic in New Haven on Saturday. Jessica Kendzor ran her first 1 mile race and finished with a US Milesplit Elite time of 5:21.01. Breeda Mannion continued her comeback. She ran the 800 Meters for the 1st time this season and finished with a time of 2:33.23.

North County News: Winter Track by Roy Arnesen

Kennedy Catholic’s Jesse Aprile placed sixth in the 55 Meter dash with a time 6.8. Aprile also placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 39-1/2. He finished the evening with a ninth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 18-9. Teammate Dylan Schuck qualified for the finals and placed sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.8.

In the Dendy One Meet, Kennedy’s Michael Campobasso ran a time of 8.1 in the 55 meter hurdles to place 2nd.. Campobasso also placed third in the high jump at 5-4. Teammate Liam Perry placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 36-5 ½.

Kennedy Catholic’s Jessica Kendzor took third (2:43.4) in the 1000 Yard Run at the Rockland Invitational.

At Dendy, Kennedy’s Breeda Mannion placed sixth at 5:35 in the 1500.

"We are the Champions" - JFK Boys Claim League Championship; JFK Girls are 2nd

The JFK Catholic Boys were heard to sing a chorus of "We are the Champions" as they claimed the Winter Track League Championship at the Armory in NY, NY last night. For the boys, Aprile, Campobasso, and Schuck led the way in the field, and in the dashes. Andrew Rodriguez helped the team with a first place throw in the shot put. Eric DiNome PR'd in the 1500 for the second time in a week. He and Dan Calapai fired up the middle distance relay teams. For the girls, Danielle Asaro led the way with first place medals in the 55 Meters and the 300 Meters. Kathryn Ahearn won the Long Jump. Jessica Kendzor repeated as 1000 Meter League Champion and scored 6 team points in her first 3000 Meter run in a strong field of runners. She also anchored the 4x400 Meter relay team to a remarkable, dominating 1st place performance. Breeda Mannion shaved another 10 seconds off her 1500 Meter time as she continues her comeback. Breeda ran the 1st leg of the 4x400 Meter relay and handed the baton to Katherine Kastberg, who maintained the substantial lead that Breeda had opened. Katherine handed the baton to Danielle Asaro who widened the lead. Danielle passed the baton to Jessie Kendzor who blew the field away. It wasn't even close.

Kendzor (*School Record), Aprile, & Schuck Medal at the Rockland Coaches Invitational

Jessie Kendzor set a new *School Record in the 1000 Yard Run with a time of 2:43. She finished with the 3rd fastest time in New York State for the 2009-2010 season. Jesse Aprile earned two 6th Place medals. He jumped 39-3.5 in the Triple Jump and ran 6.8 in the 55 Meter dash to earn these medals. Dylan Schuck ran 8.8 in the 55 Meter Hurdles to win a 6th Place medal.

DiNome PRs, Calapai (Takes 4th) To Lead Runners; Campobasso & Perry Medal in the Field at Donny Dendy #1

Daniel Calapai ran 58.8 to finish 4th in the 400 Meter run out of 98 participants. Eric DiNome ran a 5:07 (PR) to place 7th (in a field of 100 racers) in the 1600 Meters. DiNome also ran the first and fastest leg of JFK’s 4 x 400 Meter Relay team, which ran a 4:06, good for 15th out of 58 teams. Alex Cecere ran 2:22 in the 800-meter race to place 37th in the field of 132 runners. Brenda Page finished (58th) in the upper half of the competition in the same race. Zachary Cecere finished 16th in the 3200 Meter run.

In the boy’s field events, Michael Campobasso ran 8.10 to place 2nd in the 55 Meter Hurdles. Michael high-jumped 5-4 for a 3rd place. He also pole vaulted 9-0 to finish 8th in a field of 29 competitors. Liam Perry jumped 18-0.25 to place 4th in the Long Jump. There were 45 competitors. John Davin jumped 16, good for 14th. Liam Perry also placed 3rd in the Triple Jump. He jumped 36-5.5. Jason Davin was 13th with a jump of 32-9.5.

Asaro Stars at Donny Dendy #1; Breeda Mannion is on the Comeback Trail

Danielle Asaro ran 1:09.40 to take 2nd place in the 400 Meter run. She also ran 27.80 and tied for 2nd in the 200 Meters. After tackling some health issues, Breeda Mannion is now on the comeback trail. She finished 6th in the 1500 Meter Run in a field of 62 runners. Katie Mittlestadt ran 2:53 and Emily Middlestadt ran 2:57 to finish 17th and 20th respectively in the 42 runner field of the 800 Meter Run.

In the girl’s field events, JFK’s Kathryn Ahearn led the JFK girls. She finished 15th best with a jump of 25-3.
