Kennedy Catholic's Jessica Kendzor placed first in the League 1D championship at North Salem October 13. Kendzor won by over a minute with a time of 19:04 on the 3.1 mile course. The Gaels also won the team title by a score of 23 to 39 over Dover in the five-team league. Breeda Mannion placed fifth at 20:58. Doran Hastings (22:37) and Colleen Iral(22:46) placed seventh and eighth.

Patrick Gleason (20:08), Anthony Djerdjaj (20:14), Alex Cecere (20:37), Zachary Cecere (21:23), + Peter Rosasch (21:24) braved the cold and impending rain to pace the JFK Boys' team in Pawling, New York. JFK finished ahead of Seward and North Salem. They competed in the 5K run at the Green Mountain Lake Invitational in Lakeside Park, Pawling, New York. Liam Perry ran 21:57 to finish as 6th man for the Gaels. The team average was 20:45.

Jessica Kendzor ran 19:02, a new North Salem course record for the 5K or 3.1 mile League Championship Course, to win the race and become League Champion. Breeda Mannion continued her healing process and PR'd to finish 5th. Jessica Kendzor, Breeda Manion, Doran Hastings, Colleen Iral, Emily Thomas, April Mante, Sara DiNome, and Clarice Chastang combined their efforts to win the 2009 Cross Country League Girls' Team Championship.

Kennedy Catholic’s Jessica Kendzor continued her winning streak with another first place finish in the Varsity 111 at Brewster Saturday, recording a time of 19:20. It marked the best time of the meet on the 3.1-mile course. Kendzor is one of the top Class B runners in Section 1 this season. Teammate Breeda Mannion placed seventh in a time of 21:36 and Colleen Iral placed 32nd in time of 24:39. The Gaels placed sixth as a team with a team average of 24:06.

The JFK News Post, Armory Track: JFK Lines Up With Haldane, Cold Springs, North Salem, & Dover; JFK Girls Are 1st & JFK Boys Are 2nd
This past week, Kennedy fans traveled to Brewster and North Salem in strong numbers to cheer the popular JFK boys and girls XC teams. Runners report that fans have been seen to cheer from deli tables, lawn & director chairs, from behind trees, under tents, and even from pacing cars. The results are positive. Here is the North Salem report:
For the boys, DiNome (17:59 - PR), Djerdjaj (18:11 – PR), A. Cecere, Gleason, Z. Cecere, Page, and Calapai (PR) finished strong and took second at North Salem. DiNome, Djererjaj, and A. Cecere demonstrated pack running, traveling as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in their race. Patrick Gleason has been awesome. He finished 4th on the team. Zach Cecere joined his brother in the JFK top 5. Brendon Page (JFK-6th) finished strong. In interviews after the race, Eric DiNome, Anthony Djerdjaj, and Dan Calapai confirmed their times as personal bests for 3.1 miles or 5 K.
For the girls, Kendzor, Mannion, Hastings, Iral, Thomas and Mante carved out the win. Jessica Kendzor, who has the fastest 5K time in Westchester, & in NYS Region 1 – A, B, C, and D schools, won the race. Breeda Mannion (2nd) felt good after the race. That is good news for the team as the League Championship race approaches. Doran Hastings is back in the pack. She placed third for the team. Colleen Iral continued her wonderful season; she finished 4th for the team. She has played an integral part for the girls throughout the season. Parents marveled as Emily Thomas (JFK – 5th) raced to the finish with her wheels-in-motion form. April Mante (JFK – 6th) was her charming self. Clarice Chastang felt better and hopes to rejoin the team soon. She came to cheer for her team.
Afterwards, the team made plans to dine at Chili’s. The bonding is sure to enhance the spirit of the team!

Roy Arnesen, North County News: Somers Team and Kendzor Win Titles at Kennedy Sterling Invitational
Cross Country
Girls
Jessica Kendzor ran the Varsity !! race at the Kennedy Sterling Invitational with the best time of the day at 18:56... Kendzor ran a smart race, coming from behind to catch Katherine Doyle, of Sleepy Hollow in the last 100 meters to win by 3 seconds. Kendzor led early, Doyle passed her in the second mile and appeared to be pulling away, but Kendzor reeled her in and finished brilliantly.
Teammate Breeda Mannion, still recovering from an injury, also ran well with a seventh place finish in a time of 20:00. Mannion would have liked to run faster, but is pleased with her progress.
Junior Doran Hastings placed 22nd in a time of 22:49.
Kennedy placed third in the race with a 21:58 team time average.
