Season Highs: Leagues, Wynne Scores in 800 (2nd), Mile (3rd), 2 Mile (4th); Page Paces 4x800 to 4th

Brandon Wynne Scored 18 points for the boys at the League Championships and was ready to compete for more if the team needed him. He scored 6 points in the mile and 4 points in the 2 mile. Though he was not entered in the 800 Meters, he offered to compete because he thought he could help the team. In the end, he almost won the event. He finished second and scored an additional 8 points for the team. Once again, the Siena bound senior led with his heart and followed in force with his body.

If you sat on the sideline, you probably listened to one observer after another comment how Brendan Page is just getting better and better. He did just that as the season progressed. He ran a strong 800 for the 4x800 relay to help JFK to take fourth and score 4 points toward the JFK team total.

Boys’ Track Team Wins League III-A Championship

This article is taken from: www.kennedycatholic.org/news

Sweeps seasonal titles for cross-country, indoor track, outdoor track and field

The Kennedy boys’ track and field team won the League III-A title on May 6 at Putnam Valley, giving our harriers a title in each of the three running seasons. The girls also had a strong showing, finishing three points behind eventual winner Croton. So since September, Kennedy is home to four of the six possible titles for League III-A (the girls also won their indoor track and field season).

Heading into the final day (May 4 was called due to rain and darkness), Kennedy had already garnered 10 first-place finishes. Dylan Schuck led a string of junior scorers for the Gaels with wins in the 400-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles. Quick on his heels are Kennedy’s dynamic duo of Jessica Kendzor (400-meter dash, 800-meter run) and Breeda Mannion (400-meter hurdles and 1,500-meter run). Junior Jesse Aprile, long jump; sophomore Danielle Asaro, 100-meter dash; and freshman Michael Campobasso, pole vault, rounded out the scoring for the Gaels. The Gaels also ended the day with two of the seven National Elite results: Brandon Wynne in the 2-mile run and Schuck in the javelin.

Season Highlight: Dylan Schuck Ranked 8th in NYS with National Elite Status Javelin Throw of 161-10

LOUCKS: Mannion PBs @ 1600M; Schuck Slides, Throws app. 170 @ Javelin; Kendzor Sprints 2:20 @ 800M

Breeda Mannion ran the 1600 Meters at Louckes, White Plains, New York, in a personal best time of 5:26.

Dylan Schuck's best Javelin throw flew to approximately 170, but was not measured, due to his slide in the mud past the starting point.

Jessica Kendzor ran a 2:20, 880 Meter race, to finish 13th overall. This was about 4 seconds more than her personal best of 2:16 at the Somers Invitational last week. The latter time was a Top 20 New York State time at that point in the season.

Armory Track - The Gael Observer - A Salute to Jake Bergmeier: Teacher, Coach, Technology Guru

Jake Bergmeier is an unique individual. JFK Catholic is a lucky school to have such an individual associated with their Cross Country & Track and Field program. He has provided a spark and helped to revolutionize our XC and Track programs.

In a recent post on the Armory Website, a JFK parent wrote:

"Athletes, their parents, college scouts, and college coaches are appreciative for the behind the scenes work by Jake Bergmeier to computerize results for our League Championships, Sterling Invitational, etc. This data is sent to the Armory Track website. At the Armory site, Tim Fulton and staff have the results transmit, automatically, to our athlete's profiles. This data reflects into news feeds, onto personal best lists, on latest performance charts, onto athlete career graphs, and into comparative county, section, state, and national ranking charts. A number of college coaches have directly informed me that they periodically check our athletes profiles on the Armory Track site.

Coach Bergmeier's development of JFK XC & Track and Field websites has helped stimulate renewed interest in these special programs at Kennedy. Furthermore, nobody takes photos like Coach Bergmeier takes photos. Many of our athletes have been able to see action photos of themselves as they compete on the track, in the fields, and through the trails. These action shots create additional excitement for our athletes. Thanks Jake!"

Jake Bergmeier's insight and development has provided us with an important integration of technology into our existing program. Combine Jake's approach with the ever popular, family-orientated XC & Track and Field programs at Kennedy, and you have something truly special.

We look forward to continuing to work with you next year, Mr. Jake Bergmeier.
