OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP DISTANCE MEDLEY RELAY – One (1) race with special awards for 1st thru 5th place and separate class scoring as above... We envision this to be a championship race and hope it will be a highlight of the meet, mixing some of the best runners of all three (3) classes. It is an open event with awards to the top five (5) teams open but with separate class scoring. (If your team doesn’t finish in the top (five) 5, they can still score in class and will medal in class if they do not receive an open award and run better than 15:00.) We hope many schools will enter the race and make it a highlight of the meet.

Sprinting into Track: North County Roundup
By Roy Arnesen and Isaac Cass
Boys
Kennedy Catholic
Key Members: Dylan Schuck, Brandon Wynne, Jesse Aprile, Michael Campobasso, and Jude Murphy
Outlook: The Gaels will be bolstered by the addition of Aprile, who had a very strong showing in sprints during winter track. Wynne will lead the team in the distance events with Dylan Schuck scoring points in the jumps. The Gaels looked solid in winning their first dual meet over Croton. The Gaels will be in the hunt to win the League III-A title, which they won in the winter season.
Girls
Key Members: Jen Cicchetti, Akua Frimpong, Abby Henry, Breeda Mannion, and Jessica Kendzor
Outlook:
The Gaels are strengthened by the addition of Kendzor, who is in her first season of spring track. She made states in the winter and can score in the sprints, mid-distance and distance events. The team will have to find some points in the field events to be able to challenge for the top three spots in League III-A. Kendzor will be in the hunt to qualify for the states in Division II.

Dear Parents and Athletes:
Dear Coaches,
As I'm sure you're aware, the tough economic conditions have forced us
at The Journal News/LoHud.com to make some difficult decisions.
Starting on Saturday, you will notice that we are going to a smaller
newspaper. What that means to us is less space to report news and less space
to feature athletes.
One of the ways we are coping with the reduced space is to change our
policy on dual meets. We will no longer take the top three results in each
event. Only the winner and his/her time/distance will be published.
We will continue to go four deep for the large invitationals.
I understand that this won't be a popular decision, but I want to thank
you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
--
Sincerely,
Susie Arth

I received the following email today. I suggest you all write to the Journal News and let them know you are disappointed in their decision.
Coach Bergmeier

Sincerely,
Susie Arth
