The JFK News Post, Armory Track: JFK Lines Up With Haldane, Cold Springs, North Salem, & Dover; JFK Girls Are 1st & JFK Boys Are 2nd

This past week, Kennedy fans traveled to Brewster and North Salem in strong numbers to cheer the popular JFK boys and girls XC teams. Runners report that fans have been seen to cheer from deli tables, lawn & director chairs, from behind trees, under tents, and even from pacing cars. The results are positive. Here is the North Salem report:

For the boys, DiNome (17:59 - PR), Djerdjaj (18:11 – PR), A. Cecere, Gleason, Z. Cecere, Page, and Calapai (PR) finished strong and took second at North Salem. DiNome, Djererjaj, and A. Cecere demonstrated pack running, traveling as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in their race. Patrick Gleason has been awesome. He finished 4th on the team. Zach Cecere joined his brother in the JFK top 5. Brendon Page (JFK-6th) finished strong. In interviews after the race, Eric DiNome, Anthony Djerdjaj, and Dan Calapai confirmed their times as personal bests for 3.1 miles or 5 K.

For the girls, Kendzor, Mannion, Hastings, Iral, Thomas and Mante carved out the win. Jessica Kendzor, who has the fastest 5K time in Westchester, & in NYS Region 1 – A, B, C, and D schools, won the race. Breeda Mannion (2nd) felt good after the race. That is good news for the team as the League Championship race approaches. Doran Hastings is back in the pack. She placed third for the team. Colleen Iral continued her wonderful season; she finished 4th for the team. She has played an integral part for the girls throughout the season. Parents marveled as Emily Thomas (JFK – 5th) raced to the finish with her wheels-in-motion form. April Mante (JFK – 6th) was her charming self. Clarice Chastang felt better and hopes to rejoin the team soon. She came to cheer for her team.

Afterwards, the team made plans to dine at Chili’s. The bonding is sure to enhance the spirit of the team!
